July 2015 Airline Update
At TRVLVIP we focus on maximizing your airline reward program earning and redemption opportunities to save you time and money. The more you know, the bigger your advantage – and we had some great airline updates in June!
Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan
In June we highlighted the flexibility that sets Alaska apart! For example, and unique to Alaska Airlines, everyone enjoys free cancellations and changes on flights if made 60 days or more before travel! Did you know you also enjoy same-day flight changes for only $25? And loyalty pays for MVP Gold and Gold 75 members who always have free cancellations and changes on paid and award travel!
For those of you who hold the Alaska Airlines Signature Visa card, you have a NEW benefit! Your first checked bag is now free for you and up to six other passengers on your reservation! And always check TRVLVIP before booking a car rental with Avis or National. You’ll be rewarded with bonus Mileage Plan miles!
American Airlines AAdvantage
As expected, US Airways continued its slow amble towards retirement with no big changes in June. We are watching the merger with American closely with an eye on potential changes to the AAdvantage loyalty program. The biggest news to happen thus far was the full integration of US Airways Dividend Miles into AAdvantage. Here is a good link to stay updated on the merger. Feel secure knowing that when we know more so will you!
In the meantime, new updates continued in June with a few highlights. For example, if you are planning holiday award travel you should book ASAP to save AAdvantage miles or you’ll likely see your award spend requirements increase! Be sure to check TRVLVIP before booking a car rental with Avis or National. You’ll be rewarded with bonus AAdvantage miles! And here is a good one to bookmark – American Airlines Hold, Change & Cancel Policies. It’s comforting to know your options (all in one spot) if you ever need to change or cancel a flight!
Delta Airlines SkyMiles
We added several great Delta updates to the site in June!
SkyTeam is 15 years old (we don’t know how old that makes them in human years)! On June 22, 2000, Delta and three other airlines founded SkyTeam. Today, SkyTeam services over 1,000 destinations, has 20 member airlines and is the second largest alliance behind the Star Alliance but in front of oneworld!
If you reside in the Pacific Northwest, jump on the wonderful fast track to Silver or Gold Elite status promotion if you haven’t already. You only have until July 31 to complete your flights! And if you rent a car from National, always check TRVLVIP for the current bonus SkyMiles promotions. And remember the industry pairings between Delta and Starwood and Delta and Virgin Atlantic provide great reciprocal benefits!
Be sure to check out all of the current Delta Perks and the many great TRVLVIP Tips! And pay special attention to these very important Tips – Hold, Change & Cancel Policies, Changes to the Way You Earn SkyMiles in 2015 and Recent SkyMiles Program Updates!
United Airlines MileagePlus
We had several great United updates in June!
If you have elite status on another airline, but are considering a change to United, how about a status match? And again this month, United MileagePlus miles are on sale for 25% to transfer or up to 30% off to buy and we’ll explain why it make not make sense to engage in either offer! And remember that United and Hertz (this Perk was very popular this month) and United and Marriott (RewardsPlus) have paired up to provide great reciprocal benefits!
We hoped you enjoyed our June airline summary! We’d love to have you follow us on Facebook and Twitter and to share TRVLVIP with friends and family who enjoy travel and desire more Luxury for their Loyalty! Dreaming is fun, but make that next trip happen!
Happy Loyalty, Happy Travels!
