Should I Choose the IHG Points or the Double Dividend Miles?

Expiration Date – April 30, 2015

With IHG’s Double Up Miles promotion, you earn double US Airways Dividend Miles for each eligible IHG hotel stay. Simply register to start earning the bonus on future stays through April 30, 2015.

For stays at most IHG hotels, members earn 10 IHG Rewards Club points for each eligible dollar spent or 2 Dividend Miles. We value IHG points at .7 cents each and Dividend Milesat 2 cents per mile. During this bonus offer you earn 10 IHG points (worth about 7 cents) OR 4 Dividend Miles(worth about 8 cents) for each eligible dollar spent with IHG. In this case, you are probably better off earning Dividend Miles. To see how TRVLVIP determines rewards mile and point values, see our great tip on this topic.

If you prefer to earn Dividend Miles and participate in this offer, you must log into your IHG account, set your IHG Rewards Club earning preference to miles and then register for the promotion.

We suggest you review all terms and condition of this offer, but here are a few important ones:

  • The maximum number of bonus miles you can earn during this promotion is 10,000 miles

  • Bonus miles will not be earned until you register for the offer

  • A qualifying stay is defined as one night or consecutive nights at the same hotel, regardless of frequency of check-in/out, where you pay a qualifying rate, which includes most business and leisure rates but not award nights or third party rates (e.g. Expedia, Orbitz, Priceline, etc.)

Maybe you’re an IHG member that rarely stays in IHG hotels or maybe you just want to bulk up on your Dividend Miles stash. Whatever the reason, if you prefer to earn Dividend Miles for your IHG stays, then register for this promotion!
