It is generally more lucrative to earn SPG points instead of airline miles at Starwood hotels. But, we tested this rate and at some hotels the promotional rate was the same or less than the general Club Room & Lounge rate without the 1,000 bonus US Airways miles. And that makes it a valuable promotion!
We value US Airways miles at 2 cents per mile, so 1,000 bonus miles are worth about $20. We found a few hotels where the SHMILES rate was more than $20 over the general Sheraton Club Room & Lounge rate and in that case you are better off forgoing the 1,000 mile bonus and booking the lower rate.
