Our Advice Regarding Starpoints Redemptions:
Although you are eligible to redeem Starpoints for stays at participating Caesars Entertainment hotels, we do not usually suggest it and let us tell you why.
As you know from prior TRVLVIP Perks and Tips, we value SPG Starpoints at 2.2 cents per point, which is the value we would be willing to pay for Starpoints if we could buy them for cash. It is also the minimum value we feel you should expect before redeeming your points.
The number of Starpoints required for award stays at Caesars Entertainment hotels is generally very high compared to the cash rates. Casino hotels often have great sales on paid stays. This means the redemption (even when on sale) frequently yields a return that is much lower than 2.2 cents per Starpoint - often 50% lower!
To find out if a particular scenario is a good redemption deal follow these two steps:
Divide the total room rate, including tax, by the number of Starpoints required for the stay
If the result is greater than 2.2 cents, go for it, but double check your math because we often find that it doesn’t pencil out
If you’d still like to proceed with the redemption of Starpoints, you must book your stay online. Phone redemptions will not be accepted. You should review the terms of the reservation carefully. The Starpoints you redeem for a stay include all taxes, but do not include resort charges.
