Introduction Image for: IHG’S AWARD CATEGORY CHANGES

Maximize Your Points - What You Need to Know About the February 17, 2016, IHG Reward Club Award Category Changes!

Expiration Date – February 17, 2016

On February 17, 2016, IHG will introduce two new award categories requiring 55,000 and 60,000 IHG Rewards Club points to secure a free night. IHG is also making changes to the number of points required for a free night at approximately 400 hotels.

Steps to take to maximize the value of your IHG Rewards Club points:

  1. Review IHG’s list of hotels with category changes.

  2. If you desire an award stay at any of the hotels that will require more points for a free night, book those stays before February 17 (pay special attention to San Francisco, New York City, London, Paris and Hong Kong).

  3. If you desire an award stay at any of the hotels that will require less points for a free night, wait to book those hotels until after February 17.

The Wrap-Up:

Many of IHG’s most popular properties in attractive cities will require more points after February 17. So take a few minutes to think about your 2016 travel plans and secure your award stays at those IHG hotels prior to February 17. You’ll have the opportunity to cancel and adjust most reservations if your plans change, so a little pre-planning can really pay off.
