If you book a Standard car or larger with Hertz you can ask for an upgrade at the counter, which will sometimes save you money, versus booking the upgrade online.
And here’s an interesting twist: At the counter ask politely to upgrade to a car with “Satellite Radio”. The upgrade fee is often $5/day and you may get a nicer car than you originally booked.
