Should You Choose the IHG Points or the Double American AAdvantage Miles?
Expiration Date – April 30, 2016
Enjoy double American AAdvantage miles for each eligible IHG hotel stay. Simply register to start earning the double miles bonus for future stays through April 30, 2016.
For stays at most IHG hotels, members earn 10 IHG Rewards Club base points or 2 airline miles for each eligible dollar spent (a few of the partner airlines have a different earning structure).
We value IHG points at .7 cents each and airline miles with American at 2 cents per mile. During this promotion, if you choose to earn points, you will earn 10 IHG Rewards Club base points (worth about 7 cents) or 4 American AAdvantage miles (worth about 8 cents) for each eligible dollar spent with IHG.
As you can see, the earning opportunity between points and this double AAdvantage miles offer is pretty neutral, so we suggest you simply make your choice based on personal preference.
Strings attached? Sure there are. Here are the important ones:
The maximum number of bonus miles you can earn during this promotion is 10,000 miles on top of the base miles you earn
Bonus miles will not be earned until after you register for the promotion
Stays are eligible for this promotion when you pay a qualifying rate, which includes most business and leisure rates but not award nights or stays booked through third parties (e.g. Expedia, Orbitz, Priceline, etc.)
If you prefer to earn American AAdvantage miles and participate in this offer, you must log into your IHG account, set your IHG Rewards Club earning preference to miles with Delta and then register for the promotion.
The Wrap-Up:
